I’m interested in the relationship between the self and localized place; the point of entry in which a space becomes place. By disorienting the viewer within the frame I aim to provoke a sense of distance from the landscape. How do we enter a space? I want to question what happens when a generalized landscape becomes pregnant with personal associations, memory and experience-- the moment in which space takes on meaning and consciousness.

The above images are an exploration of the methods we use to familiarize ourselves with a space and in turn the ways in which we distance ourselves from said space.
